Paris - The city of love

I was introduced to this site by a dear friend and get hooked ever-since, I've always loved Gwyneth Paltrow and reading this blog make me love her even more..I really love to share with you peeps her site http://goop.com/

she shares a lot of tips even for a working mother like us:)

Paris

When I was ten years old, my father and I took a trip to Paris, leaving my younger brother and mother in London where she was filming a movie. My dad believed in one-on-one time with us, and sometimes that extended to a weekend away. We stayed at a great hotel and he said I could order whatever I wanted for breakfast (French fries). We went to the Pompidou museum, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre - the usual spots. It was pretty great. On the plane back to London he asked me if I knew why we had gone, just he and I, to Paris for the weekend. I said no, but I felt so lucky for the trip. He said, “I wanted you to see Paris for the first time with a man who would always love you, no matter what.” From that time on, Paris was and continues to be very special to me. I lived there for five months in 1994 and I have made many trips back. These are the places in Paris I stay and eat and toast my dad.

Love,

Gwyneth

I'm quite touch by this story..:)

btw,i will be going to this city end next week, any tips from you peeps? this is my first visit to this city:)

SC, enjoy your rendezvous in Paree! It's a beautiful city and romantic too. You will feel that when you are there. I hope hubby is coming with you too.

Have fun, do the all the touristy bits, shop and don't forget to bring small denominations. Generally the restaurants and cab drivers don't accept big notes. Euro 50 is already considered a big note, ok.

Enjoy!!

SM - wow, all the best on your Paris trip. One tip from me...if you nak guna their train/subway, please get familiar with the route coz I dulu stuck kat the train station for several hours after midnight coz I tak familiar with the route and tak tau nak get back to the hotel mcm mana...it all happen when dear hubby decided to jump on the train without me...(the door closed the moment I nak jump in...) I end up ambik a different train yg pergi to another town instead of taking the right one back to the hotel. Scary time for me...ingat dlm hati time tu dah nak stuck in Paris forever dahhh....hehehe...:))

Besides the usual tourist stops, don't forget to just walk around the residential area around the city (near Arch de Triumph) and and see the cafes, quaint shops/boutiques, the small french bakeries and just see how the Parisians live. Really romantic.

Just go to the residential area near the Arch de triumph area and just sit and enjoy coffee and watch how the parisians live. The most chic people I've seen!! Dont forget the small shops, little posh apartments, bakeries..... Oooooo so romanticccc
